From brief to letterbox: how personalised 3D printing works

You send a brief, we design it by hand and send a 3D preview to approve, then we print and post it. One round of changes is included.

Illustrated cover: how personalised 3D printing works, from brief to letterbox

Personalised pieces, such as name keyrings, signs and logo prints, are designed by hand for each order. The part that makes the process different is the 3D preview: you see exactly what will be printed, and approve it, before anything goes near the printer.

Step 1: choose a product and send your brief

Start in the Personalised section of the shop. Each product asks for what it needs, usually the text you want, sometimes a logo or image. Pick a size and colours, add any notes, and pay.

A good brief is short and specific: the exact spelling, any capitals, and anything you don’t want. If you’re sending a logo, a clear PNG or SVG works best. Please only send artwork you have the right to use.

Step 2: we design it by hand

We build your design in 3D from your brief, sizing the text and details so they print cleanly and hold up to daily use. This is where small decisions matter: making letters thick enough to be strong, and keeping fine details within what the printer can reproduce sharply.

Step 3: approve your 3D preview

Your 3D preview is usually ready within 2 business days. We email you when it’s in your account, where you can turn it around and see it from every angle.

  • If it’s right, approve it.
  • If something needs to change, tell us what. One round of changes is included, and extra rounds are $8.00 each.

Approving locks in the design exactly as shown, so it’s worth checking spelling and colours carefully.

Step 4: we print, check and post

Once approved, we print and post within 2–3 business days. Every piece is printed on our Bambu Lab printer, checked by hand, and packed to travel. Then allow Australia Post’s delivery time for your area, usually 2–6 business days. You’ll get a tracking number by email when it ships.

Prefer the file instead?

Some personalised designs can be bought as an STL file instead of a print. After you approve the preview, the finished file appears in your account to download, ready for your own printer.

Ordering for a team or event?

For 20 or more pieces, such as names for a whole team or favours for an event, ask us for a quote. We’ll quote within one business day. See how it works for the full process.
